Ableton Live
– Ableton is one of the most popular DAWs for EDM artists available today and for good reason. It’s ultra streamlined for getting your ideas down quickly, and offers an excellent playground for live performances. I am experienced and comfortable with all aspects of Ableton Live Suite and ready to help you start constructing your own awesome and engaging projects.
Steinberg Cubase
– Cubase is the OG of DAWs, with Steinberg having invented the VST format and countless other innovations since. Cubase presents as a professional studio environment, and offers deep customisation, rock solid performance, advanced delay compensation, and many new features such as Dorico scoring and Modulators.
Dance Music Theory
I’ve spent a lot of time studying and dissecting popular tracks to understand what makes a tune flow, and how to take the listener on a journey. Chord progressions, catchy melodies and functional basslines are all vital components of good dance music. If you’re stuck in creating 8 bar loops based off Splice samples I can definitely help you break free of this common trap and improve the overall composition of your tunes.
Sound Design
Being a synth nerd I’m fully versed in most popular virtual instrument plugins (Serum, Omnisphere, Diva, Phaseplant, Pigments, Dune etc), and I can help you learn how to synthesise and layer your own sounds to get closer to the ideas in your head. This knowledge extends to hardware polysynths too!
Platforms
I am fully PC-based, and work regularly in both Ableton Live and Steinberg Cubase. That said I do have working knowledge of other DAWs, and should be able to help you progress if you’re an Apple user as the general workflow and processes are generally the same regardless of platform.

My Story
I have been DJing for 25 years, and over that time I’ve seen and experienced the entire landscape shift from vinyl through CDJs to digital tracks played through controllers. My own setup is a hybrid of vinyl + digital, and I organise and play at my own events periodically as well as stream live sets on Twitch.
What makes a DJ?
Fundamentally DJing is about one core idea. Playing the right tune at the right time. Beat matching, phrase matching, looping, effects, scratching etc are all ancillary skills that you can develop at the same time, but the good news is you do not have to be Andy C or Q-Bert to rock a party and play cohesive sets that flow perfectly.
What gear do you need?
It’s worth saying if you’re just getting started you certainly do not need to shell out thousands of pounds for a full club-standard Pioneer / Alpha-Theta setup. We can get you confident and sounding great on most entry level controllers, focusing on the fundamentals of the craft of DJing, and moving to full mastery of your gear, at your preferred speed.

Session Rates
£50 per hour
£200 for a bundle of 5 sessions (works out at £40 per hour)
